Aquamarine Pendant

Spring is just around the corner, and now is the perfect time to freshen up your jewelry collection by adding aquamarine or blue topaz.  These beautiful gems reflect the colors of sea and sky to bring soothing tones and joy at this season of renewal.

Aquamarine, the traditional birthstone for March, is part of the beryl family, as is emerald.  Named for its sea-like color and transparency, aquamarine usually occurs naturally with subtle hints of green.  However, today, gems with a pure blue hue are more favored, so aquamarine is generally heated to remove the green, leaving the singular blue body color so treasured.  Aquamarine may have internal characteristics that give the gemstone a translucent or even opaque appearance; these are often polished without facets, with a smooth rounded surface, to show off their dreamy, romantic look.  Because aquamarine is somewhat rare, blue topaz, with its similar blue tones, has been dubbed the alternate gemstone for March.

“We are not going to change the whole world, but we can change ourselves and feel free as birds. We can be serene even in the midst of calamities and, by our serenity, make others more tranquil." That quote from Yoga Master Sri Gurudev sums up the way aquamarine makes me feel.  Share the glow.
